  Sketch Book

  Close up

In my studio practice I am interested in space on the canvas, our unconscious space as well as more formal elements such as geometric shapes and how they work in a space.

I use canvas as a springboard for geometric compositions. The geometric structure sets my work, stripping back painting to its raw ingredients.

The lines of tradition are dissolving, so it’s our chance to draw attention to the characteristics of contrasting processes and materials in generating form.

In my studio practice, when I am thinking about the language of my work I return to the ingredients that comprise my paintings. The experience of looking at the paintings becomes anexpression of the materials maybe.

I do feel there is more to my work than the materials themselves so I started to look at the structure of my work. I am starting to try to understand my own instinctive language.
